Rainbow Tours Sri Lanka first started operating in 2011, but those involved have actually been working together on tourism programs for over 30 years! Our combined expertise therefore makes us one of the most experienced of the smaller, private tour operators on the island.
Tourism is currently booming after the recent ending of the 30 year civil war, and of course everyone is now “in on the act” with inexperienced taxi drivers flooding the market pretending to be tour operators – so caution is warranted!
Our policy is not to “cut corners”, but to deliver what we promised working with highly praised driver/general guides ensuring a high standard of personal service and using reliable, comfortable (seat-belted), airconditioned vehicles.
Let us show you the island’s fabulous treasures in safety and comfort with a welcoming team dedicated in service!
MEET SOME OF THE TEAM:
Born into a shamanistic country family and carefully trained by his father, Tilak was a child prodigy Fire Dancer from aged 8 performing around the island to great acclaim. At the same time he was instructed in Ayurvedic Healing and Shamanistic practices.
After marrying in Kandy, he became an accomplished “Kandy Dancer” and has led dance troupes to Europe and Asia. Still healing, dancing and fire walking, he is a natural performer and these days loves to share his knowledge of the culture, traditions, history and native Lore of his island home.
Son of Tilak and married with a young daughter, Wasantha has earned a fine reputation through his many excellent reviews for being a safe and considerate driver as well as an excellent general guide. He enjoys sharing his local knowledge (including cricket!) and clients particularly commend him for his warmth and affinity to children
– no doubt why Rainbow Tours is building a great “family-friendly” reputation!
He learned good conversational English through the local British Council and is a member of the Kandy Tourist Driver’s Association, affiliated with the Tourist Board.
PETER FULLER (UK)
A friend of the Sendanayake family since 1977, he was at that time the tourism contracts manager for British Airways on the island. Using his expertise after a 40+ year career in upmarket international tourism, he set up Rainbow Tours Sri Lanka with this talented family and continues to act as an unpaid advisor/consultant.
