Hill country – Native tribes and the Holy Mountain

Day 1  :

Collection at Colombo airport and transfer to Kandy for rest and recuperation.

Day 2  :

Kandy city sightseeing tour including the Tea Factory museum, Temple of Buddha’s Tooth and the Peradenya Botanical gardens. Evening “Kandy Dance” cultural show.

Day 3  :

We drive through breathtaking  scenery along the Victoria reservoir to visit the island’s ancient tribal peoples “The Vedda” and their unchanged lifestyle in the jungle. Continue via Badulla to Ella.

Day 4  :

A day at leisure in the charming village of Ella with its stunning views. Visit Lipton place, bathe under dramatic waterfalls, climb Little Adam’s peak or wander along other hill trails.

Day 5  :

Depart for Nuwara Eliya – the British teaplanters colonial “capital”. After lunch driving through more lovely scenery continue to Delhouse in preparation for the climb of Adam’s peak  – the holy mountain Sri Pada.

Day 6  :

1am start on the 4,800 step climb to be in time to see the shadow pyramid cast at sunrise. This is one of the world’s great pilgrimage climbs and all devout Sri   Lankans make the ascent. Mid-morning return to Delhouse to catch up on sleep, take a swim or have a massage for weary limbs!

Day 7  :

We continue to nearby Kitulgala where “Bridge over the river Kwai’ was filmed. This is an activity centre for white water rafting, mountain bike rides and nature  Trails. Overnight.

Day 8  :

We drive back to Colombo/Negombo or the airport. Or your visit can be extended at one of the many beach hotels.   Tour ends.
