Our Services

  1. We can quote for round island touring itineraries and (Kandy region) Day Tours sightseeing. This includes comfortable aircon transport, with safe and experienced drivers and quality hotels and guest houses to suit your budget.
  2. We can make recommendations to meet your particular interests – see our comprehensive list of suggestions  and detailed island maps. Please note our speciality “Weddings, Honeymoons and Renewal of Vows” ceremonies  are especially popular! –  including dressed elephants, hired Kandy ceremonial costumes,  plus Kandy dancers and fire walkers.
  3. We guarantee our traditional warm and friendly island welcome with an efficient, high quality service backed with over 30 years of local experience – working in the English language. Please note that we have limited transport capacity and with our great reviews now have considerable demand for our services, so early booking is advisable! Please look at our many excellent TripAdvisor reviews and website testimonials.

Once agreement has been reached on an itinerary and a binding quote accepted, we require a deposit to confirm the reservation. Final balances are normally due 8 weeks before arrival and at least 80% of the total is required for late bookings within this period. This covers us for holding the transport/driver and making our deposits/payments with hotels on your behalf. By agreement, any remaining balances can be paid in local cash on arrival

All our prices are based on current US$/LKR exchange rates and any other hard currency used will need to exactly match the net sum quoted. All money transfers are at client’s expense

Our bank account details will be provided for international transactions and the Western Union & MoneyGram systems are recommended for their speed and lower transfer fees – they are especially well represented in Sri Lanka and India. PayPal does not work in Sri Lanka and credit cards are best avoided altogether!

Group discount: We offer 1 free place  for every 10 full paying passengers.

Advance payments can be refunded, but only after administrative expenses and any advance hotel/attraction payments have been deducted. Your insurance needs to cover cancellation within the 8 weeks “late booking period”, when no refunds are given.

CURRENCIES – Surcharges/Refunds

With the world now in currency turmoil, we reserve the right to surcharge for the hotel element of the package price if the US$ rises more than 2% against the SL Rupee between the balance payment date (8 weeks ahead) and when we pay hotel accommodation denominated in US$ nearer the arrival time.
Clients using stronger hard currencies will benefit from higher exchanges rates against the SL rupee when exchanging their spending money here and that should offset any small surcharge we may be compelled to make.
Thanking you for your understanding!

NB. We require all our clients to take out fully comprehensive insurance in their own countries for all risks BEFORE travelling with us. Rainbow Tours Sri Lanka, although governed by local law, will not be held responsible for client’s personal injury, loss or damages. The transport and hotels we use are insured, but not to adequate international levels or standards. Please also check that your policy covers last minute disruptions due to the increase of “extreme weather”, as we are not able to compensate clients once we have made advance payments for their tour arrangements within 8 weeks of arrival.

Our vehicles are for the transport of people and their personal baggage. To avoid internal damage to paintwork & upholstery, any others items will only be carried with the driver’s prior agreement. All goods are carried at owner’s risk.

By the general consensus of both Sri Lankan and foreign official websites, driving standards here are generally considered poor as are most road conditions. Hence self-drive car hire is not recommended and hired drivers need to be regulated, safe and experienced. This should not put you off coming here, but does emphasise the need to be highly selective about the drivers and transport companies chosen, which need to be officially registered with the Tourist authority. Many unskilled “touts” at the airport and online offer barely break even “cheap deal” driving quotes just to secure a hire and then make their profits through often large commissions earned from pressured salesmanship during the tour. By contrast we charge fair prices, do not annoy clients with unsolicited local selling “traps” and provide skilled and registered drivers with well maintained vehicles. “False economies” are definitely not advised in this destination!
