UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE “GOLDEN TRIANGLE” SITES – KANDY DAY TOURS – FULL DAY (North of Kandy).
1 – The Dambulla Rock Cave Buddhist Temple.
2 – Sigiriya’s “Lion Rock” palace/gardens/fortress.
3 – Fascinating archeological remains of the former capital city of Polonnaruwa.
NB. All 3 sites can be combined in a rather long day (7am to 7pm) – though most omit Polonnaruwa on this day trip.

1 – To Nuwara Eliya – the former British Tea Planter’s capital – including the Ramboda waterfall, visit to a working Tea Factory and a city sightseeing drive around, including the traditional old British “Hill Club”. Option for scenic train one way (subject to ticket availability) and road back.
2 – Full day to Kitulgala for “White River Rafting” – long day! (west of Kandy).
3 – Visit the ancient, aboriginal “Vedda” peoples in their Reservation, passing breathtaking scenery along the Victoria dam and with time at one of the island’s most celebrated Buddhist Temple shrines in Mahiyanganaya (East of Kandy).

KANDY DAY TOURS – CLIMBING ADAM’S PEAK MOUNTAIN (Sri Pada):
Allow for 1 overnight and a 3 hour drive each way ex-Kandy.
The official climbing season is between the December and April full moons, when the steps are floodlit all night and shops/cafes are open along the way.
Full moon times are best avoided as up to 500,00 (mainly local) pilgrims can gather up there!!
The ascent is also possible during the remainder of the year by torchlight overnight or daytime with a hired trekker – but weather is less reliable.
As part of a Kandy day tours package, we can arrange the climb for you with transport and hotel accommodation at the Base Camp village with or without trekker support.
